Merry Christmas!

I wore this to our Christmas Eve service at church. I dressed the whole family in browns. It all started with the cutest little brown sweater I found for my son from Janie and Jack. My daughter has a red and brown velvet dress, my husband a brown sweater, and I had this brown dress. I know it doesn't sound very Christmas-y, but it looked more festive than it sounds and we all coordinated perfectly together.
And for the record, in person, these pumps matched my belt. The camera lies.
I hope you are all enjoying your families on this very special day of celebrating the birth of our Savior.
Merry Christmas!

Big Cozy Sweater

I wore this yesterday and spent the day with family by the fire. Unfortunately, it was raining intsead of snowing, but the rain was still soothing and called for a cup of hot cocoa, a big cozy sweater, and my babies nestled in my arms. Can't get any better than that!

We've been enjoying the Christmas preparations around here. My two babies especially enjoyed making Christmas cookies at Grandma's house.
And yes, I got into the Christmas baking myself - complete with a Christmas sweater and apron!
I've also already received a Christmas present. The necklace below is a present from my husband's aunt - goes perfect with the sweater I'm wearing today!

Wore this for my son's Christmas Program at Church last night. I wore the dress from yesterday's post for Sunday morning church, and wanted to go with something more understated and classic for the evening service. There's nothing more classic than a white shirt, but the sparkly necklace gives it a touch of glamour that stays in line with my style.

Making Spring Work for Fall

I recently did a closet cleansing. On top of giving away items I no longer wear or like, I also moved warm weather only items in another closet. I left any item that I thought I could make work for fall and winter, and this dress was one of them. I can wear a sweater over it and wear the dress as a skirt. Or wear t-shirts or shirts underneath it and wear it as a jumper. Add tights, belts, boots, and voila! - it's a dress for cold weather.

Mixed Textures

Last night we went out to eat with a group of friends. I decided I wanted to wear this sparkly necklace, and the outfit evolved from there.
Wearing the necklace with a white t-sirt and jeans helped the look not get too dressy, but the leather jacket and boots kept it polished.

I decided after that I wanted to add a little warmth and thought perhaps this stole would be fun. After I put it on and took the picture, though, I thought it was a little too big so I went with the fur vest instead.

A little sparkly clutch keeping with the neutral color scheme, and I had my outfit. Now if I could always work an outfit around just a necklace.

First day of wearing my cowboy boots! Reminds me of the boots I had as a child growing up in the woods of southeast Texas. Back in Texas where I used to live, you couldn't go out in the backyard without boots like these, because there were rattlesnakes and copperheads everywhere. Of course, those boots were real ones. These are pretend. The pretend ones are a lot more comfortable, for the record.

Michael Kors and a Top Knot

While I was visiting my sis, I noticed her rocking the top knot more than once. She looked so effortlessly chic in it. She showed me the easy way she does it, and I decided I needed to give it a try. After all, just about every blogger around has been doing this for a while now, it's about time I jumped on the bandwagon. I think my head is too big in proportion to my body to really "rock" this look, but it's nice to have something trendy to fall back on when I'm having a bad hair day.
Michael Kors said in my latest In Style magazine that women need to be wearing true white in the winter, not just winter white. I'm all for this trend. I hate putting clothes away to only wear in certain seasons. Seasonless clothing is a win-win. It means I don't have to box it up for a season, which saves me time, and I get more for my money by being able to get more wear out of it.
