My first plaid shirt

I don't think this is really the first plaid top I've ever had, but it is the first I've warn since I've been an adult. I feel kind of silly, but the style is going to work really well for my growing pregnancy bump.
The close-up of the face is because I'm in love with my Sephora brand, white eyeliner and my sephora brand lip gloss. The liner goes one so well and so flawless and the lip gloss, I swear, makes my lips fuller....tell me they look fuller! lol!

Earrings ~ Premier Jewelry $19

Sephora eye liner $5

Hat and vest

Not wearing any make-up since tonight my sis-in-law and I are throwing a Mary Kay party. I'll be putting my face on with the other girlies this evening. So to detract from my pale face, I am wearing the hat. Plus, any time I wear a vest I feel like I need to wear a hat with it. Vests and hats just look good together.

Had to post that last photo due to its irony. I was so annoyed with how my pics were turning out when I looked at them in the viewfinder, that in this last shot I was saying "I'm a dork" as the pic snapped. Once I downloaded the photos, I didn't think they looked that bad, and liked the last "I'm a dork" pic the best since I'm standing up straight in it at least. lol!

Jeans at DressBarn

I just got these great jeans at DressBarn, a place I would have normally never looked at before for jeans. They have several styles there now, but my favorite style was their "straight leg" (or what I would call their skinny jean). The jean is a very dark wash with a few little rhinestones at the pockets (not shown in the pics). The waist is very high...much higher than I am used to, but that means that the pockets in the back are further up - very flattering on the rear! The jean is also very stretchy, so I almost felt like I was wearing leggings (so comfortable).

Here are tips I received from a personal shopper at DressBarn before I bought my pair:

  • For those of you who have a more defined waist, we recommend avoiding denim that has too much distressing on the front pockets, instead go with denim that has embroidered details on the back pockets!
  • Denim nights! Add a little embellishment and a sexy heel for a night out with the girls.
  • Just like black is slimming, dark denim can do the same thing! Wear a dark wash denim to help hide flaws.
  • Try pairing bright colored tops with light washed denim! It makes the color pop!
  • Don't let the name fool you, Boot Cut jeans and flats are a perfect pair for when you're on the go!

For more great jean buying tips, check out the DressBarn website.

The DressBarn near me, unfortunately did not carry petite sizes, so that was a problem for me. In addition, their smallest size was not small enough for me in all the other styles of jeans they had (besides this straight leg).

The price of their jeans runs from about $29 to $35 a pair, so if you're looking for a higher waisted, conservative jean for great prices, check out DressBarn!

LuShae Jewelry

I just got this exquisite necklace from LuShae Jewelry and can't get enough of it! The detail is perfect, and the sparkle is brilliant. Their website is very user friendly, and their service is exceptional. I love how playful and feminine this piece is and was surprised at how much lovelier it is in person. If you are looking for quality jewelry at reasonable prices, you should definitely give LuShae a try.

Maternity related post

Hi Ladies, Missi here. I'm finishing up my third month of pregnancy and finding all my pants (and tops) becoming a bit more snug and very uncomfortable.
I purchased a "Belly Band" at Target for $16 and I've started to wear it this week. I LOVE it! If your preggers and interested in purchasing something to help you transition from normal clothes to maternity (or continue wearing your normal clothes while pregnant) consider picking one of these up. It's just a big piece of elastic that you put over the waist band of skirts/pants/shorts and it keeps them up even when they are unbuttoned and even unzipped!
So far I'm loving this little piece of material and hoping that it will end up saving me money as well as allow me to continue wearing some of my favorite jeans during pregnancy.

I also found this cool site that lets you get the belly bands in all sorts of colors and designs.

Another hat

What to wear when you have an early morning errand? Leggings and a t-shirt are like pajamas, which is what I want to be wearing if I have to go somewhere at 6AM. I just added the jacket to ward off the morning chill, the pumps to take away the pajama look, and the hat to hide my bed hair.

I plan on changing later on into a regular outfit, but for my 6AM errand, I thought this wasn't so bad. lol!

My straw hat

Trying out some green eyeshadows...
I didn't wear this straw hat enough this summer...oh well...

I find it hard to wear hats in the summer. I just like less layers when it's hot out. I should remind myself not to buy summer hats, because I never wear them!

One of our readers asked us to show her some gold eyeshadow looks, so here is my idea of a daytime look using gold eyeshadow. The "tutorial" is posted on Facebook (since that was where our reader posted her question). I used Mary Kay eyeliner, L'Oreal Voluminous black mascara, and Jasmine La Belle eyeshadows from Ulta.
I just got my Glamour magazine yesterday and loved the article on how to wear leggings. I had bought these racer stripe leggings to wear for when I'm on the treadmill, but after reading the Glamour article, I realized I could wear them for a regular day outfit as well!
